Exam Accommodations

We appreciate your continued support and assistance in providing accommodations to students. Most students who are eligible for exam accommodations choose to take the exams at the SAAS office. However, it is possible that due to the type of exam, an instructor and the student may agree upon an alternative testing environment. In this instance, an instructor has a legal responsibility to ensure that the student receives the accommodations outlined in the Faculty Notification Letter. Please email the SAAS Exams Office with questions.

Instructor Responsibilities

Instructors will receive an email notification from the SAAS Exams Office with a secure link to upload a copy of the exam beginning two business days before the exam date. Exams may also be dropped off at the Exams Office, Fell Hall 350 during office hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:15pm.

Exams are received by SAAS professional staff and stored in a secure location. Please do not send exams via Campus Mail. After the exam is administered, it will be returned securely via email with a private link to OneDrive within 24 business hours of exam completion. Instructors can also choose to pick up the hard copy of the exam from Fell Hall 350.

Final Exams

Email notification requesting a copy of a final exam will be sent to instructors beginning one week in advance of the scheduled final exam date.

Online Exams and Quizzes

Canvas offers the capability to extend exam/quiz time for individual students who have been approved for an extended exam/quiz time accommodation. Please be aware of the different methods used to extend exam/quiz times when utilizing Classic Quizzes or New Quizzes within Canvas. In order to ensure privacy and maintain confidentiality, the “Groups” feature within Canvas should NOT be used for grouping students together based on the same accommodation or for quizzes.

Student Misconduct

If a student is caught with unapproved materials during an exam or quiz, that student will be referred to Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution by a SAAS staff member. You will be notified of the details of the incident via email.

Student Responsibilities

If a student has approved exam accommodations, they are expected to:

  • Notify the instructor of this accommodation when sending you their SAAS Faculty Notification Letter.
  • Follow instructors' procedures regarding exams taken at SAAS.
  • Submit an official exam request at least three business days in advance of the exam date. There are no exceptions.

The Final Exam request deadline will be three weeks in advance of final exam week and students will be notified of the deadline each semester via email directly from the SAAS Exams Office.
