Accommodations are available for persons with disabilities and/or medical/mental health conditions who are guests of the University. If you need an accommodation to attend an event, contact the department sponsoring the event, and they will assist you with the accommodation that you need. Student Access and Accommodation Services will assist departments in making the necessary accommodations.

Student Access and Accommodation Services will assist program units in providing accommodations for program participants.
Complete the following steps to ensure equal participation for individuals with disabilities at your University event, workshop, public presentation, or departmental meeting.
Include the appropriate accessibility statement(s) on all registration materials and program announcements, which include bulletins, flyers, brochures, letters, public service announcements, or other materials used to inform the public of the event or program.

Designate a contact person within your department to answer questions or accept accommodation requests for your event. Place that contact number on all materials concerning your event.
When you receive a request for an accommodation call Student Access and Accommodation Services and request assistance with that accommodation. Often, there are accommodation questions/requests that your department may be able to answer or make without the assistance of Student Access and Accommodation Services.

If the request for an accommodation is one in which you require the assistance of Student Access and Accommodation Services, call our office at (309) 438-5853 and request assistance in making that accommodation. Student Access and Accommodation Services will ask for all necessary information to complete the request.
Requests for these accommodations must be submitted to Student Access and Accommodation Services at least 5 business days prior to the event. If the request is not submitted within this timeframe, we are unable to guarantee that the accommodation can be placed.
Sign language interpreters are available by request for departmental events.
